Division One

Narberth fought back from being 34 for four to win by four wickets at Llangwm and to move off the relegation zone. The visitors had been chasing a Llangwm total of 219 all out. The consistent William Beresford scored 58 of the Llangwm runs and middle order batsman Luke Brock had an attacking innings of 66 from 47 balls with three sixes and seven fours, before being caught by Narberth captain Richard Adams off the bowling of Ben Hughes. Ian Hughes chipped in with 23 to maintain the momentum. The Narberth bowlers kept plugging away to take wickets at regular intervals with Ian Hughes finishing with a return of three for 51, Ben Quartermaine two for 29, Richard Howell two for 39 and Kyle Quartermaine two for 43. Andrew Brock and Darren Brick picked up two early wickets apiece and the visitors would have been in real trouble if Tom Richards had been caught off the second ball he received. The Llangwm team missed their opportunity and Richards made them pay for the error in a match winning partnership of 158 with Marc Hughes. Richards displayed the full array of his attacking shots in scoring 119 not out, his first century in Division One, from 104 balls with five sixes and 12 fours. As a general rule Hughes out scores his batting partners but on this occasion was content to provide the foil in scoring 48 from 87 balls. Although Hughes was dismissed with the total on 192, when he was caught by Luke Brock off the bowling of Richard Brock, Richards proceeded to attack the bowling with support at the other end from Ben Quartermaine and Daniel Hughes respectively. Andrew Brock finished with figures of two for 57 and Darren Brick took two for 42. The match of the day at Carew ended in a draw with the visitors Haverfordwest on top for most of the match after reaching a total of 212 for five. The scene was set with an opening stand of 98 between Danny Potter who scored 59 with seven fours and Richard James with 46. Wickets proved difficult to take with David Davies scoring 20, Phil Kirkby 32 not out and Stephen Phillips a brisk innings of 32 before he was bowled by Rhys Davies who ended with figures of three for 20. A number of the Carew batsman made a start but were unable to go on to get a big individual score which was needed to challenge the Havefordwest total. All rounder Simon Wood scored 32 with four fours and featured in a fourth wicket partnership of 44 with Tim Hicks who also hit four fours in his innings of 28. Earlier Wayne Cannon scored 31. David Davies took three for 30, whilst spinners Nick Dyer and Clive Tucker each took two wickets. Cresselly moved up from seventh to fourth in the table with a convincing win over the visitors St Ishmaels who were dismissed for 84 in reply to a Cresselly total of 201 for nine. Simon Cole scored 57 with two sixes and nine fours before being run out by James Salter, Damian Arthur backed up with 41 and Julian Arthur on his return to first team duty scored 36 with four fours and one six. Young all rounder Andrew Salter took three for 33 with his off spinners, his brother James took two for 34 and Stewart Kimpton two for 43. Tish failed to recover from being 13 for four after six overs. Only two batsmen Andrew Pawlett with 26 and Andrew Williams with 25 reached double figures. Huw Neale made the difference with an incisive five for 40 spell backed up by Richard Harries with two for 14 and Stefan Jenkins with two for 25. Bottom of the table Burton were dismissed for 75 chasing a Neyland total of 186 for seven. Paul Murray scored his second century of the season in an innings of 102 before being caught by David Murphy off the bowling of Steve Jones and Nicholas Kooman was 32 not out. Steve Jones took three for 36 and Joe Dixon two for 35. In the Burton innings, David Murphy scored 23, Martin James 15 and Richard Hayman 14 but Jeremy Charles had a match winning spell of five for seven supported by spinner Phil Davies who took two for 23. Lawrenny have moved into the relegation zone following their drawn match at Whitland who scored 164 for nine. Steve Fraser with 42 and Paul Davies with 40 featured in a fourth wicket partnership of 50 for the Whitland team, supported by Iestyn Scourfield with 19 not out. Lawrenny opening bowler Rob Williams had a sustained 12 over spell during which he took two for 24, Ceri Jones took three for 43 and James Buckle three for 58. Hugh Griffiths was in the runs once again for Lawrenny with 33, an innings which included five fours and one six supported by James Buckle with 23. Three other batsmen got into double figures but the innings closed with the Lawrenny total on 129 for seven. Teenager Iestyn Scourfield finished with three for 18 and Dwayne Reynolds took two for 31.

Division Two

Saundersfoot remain in second place despite being bowled out for 96 in response to a Pembroke total of 123 all out. Nigel Phillips scored 27 not out for Pembroke and boosted the Pembroke total by 40 runs in partnerships for the last two wickets. Earlier Jeremy Smith scored 33 and Daniel Scourfield 24. For Saundersfoot, David Parcell took four for 28, Yannick Parker two for 14 and Kevin Sykes two for 32. The visitors were down and out at 31 for six but Ian Poole with 41 and Yannick Parker with 15 put on 54 for the seventh wicket to give the final total a degree of respectability. Pembroke skipper Kevin Jenkins took three for 12, Rob Weston two for 11 and spinner Nigel Phillips two for 22. Carew Seconds scored 154 for seven away to Haverfordwest Seconds. Five of the Carew batsmen had useful double figure scores. Teenager Tom Davies scored 30, Nick Cope 29, Martin Scourfield 27 and Adrian Harries 23. For the Haverfordwest team, Dean Flood, Nigel Delaney and Josh Wilment each picked up two wickets. Haverfordwest Seconds were bowled out for 92 in reply despite the efforts of Steve James with 32 not out and his son Julian James with 17. No other batsman reached double figures as Steve Ive took three for 21, Neil Gregory three for 24 and spinner John Canton three for 21. In other Division Two matches the leaders Hook won by 75 runs away to Fishguard after bowling out the home team for 125. Llechryd lost by ten wickets away to Herbrandston. The visitors collapsed from being 57 for three to be bowled out for 61. Johnston had a five wickets win away to Llanrhian who were restricted to a total of 147 for nine.

Division Three

Unfortunately a wet out field prevented any play in the local derby between Kilgetty and Whitland Seconds. Cresselly Seconds have moved up to just two points behind the leaders Lamphey following a comfortable win away to St Ishmaels Seconds. Andrew Harris scored 50 with six fours, Geraint Williams 36, Nick Davies 33 and Neil Williams 24 as Robbie Thomas took two for 32, Ryan Rees two for 40 and Lenny Rees two for 47. Although Philip Cockburn scored 66 before being bowled by Huw Evans, the other Tish batsmen were unable to build an innings and Tish were bowled out for 117. Huw Evans took four for nine and Sion Jenkins three for 38. Hundleton won by three wickets away to Burton Seconds who had scored 174 for six. Ross Edwards and Andrew Cromwell had the bulk of the runs for the Burton team with 66 and 55 respectively backed up by Neville Davies with 27. Good batting by John Tysoe with 46, Riaan Strydom with 44 and Steve Williams with 37 enabled the visitors to reach 172 for seven. John Griffiths was the pick of the Burton bowlers with four for 49. Lamphey salvaged a draw at home to Stackpole after the visitors had scored 148 for six. Alan Webster scored 43, Anthony Canton 29 not out and Richard McKay 22. Grant Cole took three for 25 for Lamphey who had just managed to cling on to the match with a total of 85 for eight. Nic Johnson scored 16 and Hywel Gibbs 13. Andrew Skeels with 11 not out was helped by his son James who scored 10 and then by Luke Hamilton who curtailed his natural attacking instincts to save the day. Anthony Canton took three for 27, Richard McKay two for ten and Alan Webster two for 15. Pembroke Dock have moved up into third position in the table with an emphatic win away to Camrose and Spittal. Steve Hartley scored 39 in the Dock total of 136 for nine backed up by John Davies with 22 and Peter Jones with 21. Dave Morgan took three for 30 for Camrose and Spittal and David Crane two for 48. Although James Gwilt scored 18 the other batsmen had problems with all of the Dock bowlers as Luke Murray took four for 14, John Davies three for 21 and Jason Coles three for 32.

Division Four

Narberth Seconds are in joint second place with Llangwm Seconds whom they defeated by six wickets at Narberth. The visitors batted first to score 150 for six. Paul Morgan scored 38, Alastair Platten 26 not out, Ian Gow 23 and Chris Thomas 21 not out. Gary Hughes took three for 42 and spinner Nick Evans two for 43, whilst young wicket keeper Connor Lloyd picked up three catches and one stumping. Narberth got the winning runs with eight balls to spare when Brynley Toms hit a big six to win the match. Earlier Mike Johns scored 56 not out and Aron Keane scored 48 off 31 balls with three huge sixes and five fours. Pembroke Seconds were bowled out for 140 at Lawrenny. Anton John scored 64 and Colin Kaijaks 30 but no other batsman had double figures as Alun Evans took five for 27, Stephen Rees two for 13 and John Fuller two for 12. Lawrenny Seconds won by three wickets with a total of 141 for seven. Steven Cole scored 35 and Phil Cole 23. Manorbier were bowled out for a disappointing total of 81 away to Haverfordwest Thirds despite the efforts of Mike May with 25. Town skipper Alan Sexton took three for 18, Richard Davies two for 22 and Micky Phillips two for 23. The Haverfordwest team won by eight wickets with Nigel Jenkins scoring 56 not out.

Division Five

Whitland Thirds have moved up two places into second place with a comprehensive win away to Narberth Thirds at the Llanddewi Velfrey ground that the teams share. Edward John had a fine innings of 79 not out backed up by Darren Rees with 29 and Ian Thomas with 19. Five Narberth bowlers took a wicket each. The Whitland bowlers had more success and Narberth Thirds were dismissed for just 45. Jordan Williams had a hard hitting innings of 18. Barry Rees took three for six, Hefin Thomas three for one and there were two wickets each for Daniel James and Ashley Evans. St Florence gained revenge for their defeat at Burton earlier in the season by bowling out the visiting Burton Thirds for 33 after declaring with a score 162 for three. Peter Hall who scored 69 not out with seven fours and Steve Wilkins who scored 56 with nine fours had an opening stand of 115 for the Saints supported by Geraint Lewis with 19. When the Burton team batted, Ben McDonnell took five for 11 and thirteen year old George Wilkins took three for 11. Cresselly Thirds took the honours in the local derby with Carew Thirds at the Tony Scourfield Memorial Ground. A number of Carew batsmen reached double figures but only Dan Edwards batting at number 10 with 26 scored more than 20. Steffan Davies and Chris Cole both scored 18 and Haydn Shapcott 16. Steve Davies took five for 22 for the visitors and Iwan Izzard two for 43. Cresselly Thirds won by six wickets with a total of 131 for four. Nick Jones scored 40, Steve Davies 35 and Alex Bayley 23. Kerry Waters took two for 19 and Dan Edwards two for 21.

Division Six

n the local derby at Saundersfoot, a depleted Saundersfoot Seconds team were bowled out for 79 by Kilgetty Seconds. Although Sam Butler scored 20 and Mike Franklin 18 before retiring hurt, Richard Gwyther took four for four and Jamie Morgan three for 23. In reply Kilgetty Seconds won by nine wickets with a score of 82 for one. Richard Gwyther followed up his bowling with 47 not out including five sixes and two fours and Stuart Allen scored 28. Crymych Seconds were bowled out for 79 away to Hundleton Seconds. Alun Parry scored more than half of the runs for the visitors with 41, as Carl John took three for 30 and David Pratt three for 33. Hundleton Seconds won by eight wickets after scoring 83 for two with Carl John 35 and Paul Edwards 27 not out. Fishguard Seconds reached a total of 180 for three away to Pembroke Dock Seconds with John de Groot scoring 86 not out, Sean O'Connor 41 not out and Russell Jones 24. Andrew Wood picked up the three wickets to fall at a personal cost of 19 runs. Although Chris Boyett scored 29, the Dock team were bowled out for 89 as Matthew Driver took five for 19 and Sean O'Connor two for 15.
