St Ishmaels continued to lead the Imperial Garages Pembroke County Cricket League division one league table and shrug off the challenge of both Carew and Cresselly. All three clubs won again on Saturday. St Ishmaels travelled to Neyland and bowled out the home team for 81. Scott John led the run scoring for Neyland with 21 before being caught by Stewart Kimpton off the bowling of Andrew Williams. Jeremy Charles scored 16 and skipper Andrew Miller 15. All rounder Andrew Williams took five for 26 for Tish and opening bowler James Salter three for 11. Neyland made the visitors fight all the way before Tish won by five wickets in the 46th over. Young Andrew Salter made sure of the win as he grafted for 34 not out after opening the batting and the other batsmen in double figures were skipper Peter Bradshaw with 12 and Andrew Williams with 11 not out. Patrick Hannon took two for 14 in 12 overs and Henry Durant took two for 22. Although James Venables scored 17 and Dean Murphy 12 Burton were bundled out for 52 as Simon Wood took four for 11 and Darren Thomas four for 22 backed up by Rhys Davies and Wayne Cannon with a wicket apiece. Simon Wood became the second Carew bowler after Rob Scourfield to take a hat-trick this season. He had Dean Murphy caught by Phil Jones and as the batsmen had crossed he bowled James Venables with the next ball. Richard Scriven came to the crease and fell to a brilliant catch by Rhys Davies to give Wood a well deserved hat-trick. Carew wasted no time in getting the winning runs and reached 55 without loss in eight overs. Ian Sefton was 33 not out and Nick Scourfield 16 not out, Cresselly had to chase a target of 171 away to Haverfordwest who had accelerated later in their innings to reach a total of 170 for five. David Davies scored 70 not out with four fours and six sixes and Stephen Phillips reached 41 with six fours before being bowled by spinner Ryan Lewis. Adam Raymond finished with 19 not out. Marc Hughes played a captain's innings of 30 not out off 92 balls to make sure of the win and Paul Phillips picked up runs at the other end in scoring 50 with six fours before he was run out. The win has now taken Narberth out of the relegation zone whereas Pembroke have slipped back into danger along with Burton.
