Division Three

Cresselly Seconds were unable to avoid the trap door from Division Three as the visitors Johnston won the match by five wickets to earn promotion from Division Three as champions. The Cresselly team had a poor start and were 32 for 4, but a fifth wicket partnership between Stephen Thomas and Selwyn Cole of 93 runs took the Cresselly total to 138 for 6. The left-handed Thomas scored 51 with four 6s and two 4s and Selwyn Cole showed all of his experience in reaching 41 not out. Steve Jenkins took 2 for 22 and Richard James 2 for 23 for the visitors. A superb 74 not out by elegant left-hander Chris Fitzpatrick took Johnston to a total of 142 for 5 and Gary James played the supporting role with 22. Narberth Seconds were bowled out for 98 at home to Hundleton. The total represented a recovery, as at one time the Narberth team had been 10 for 5. However, teenager Thomas Richards confirmed his promise to end the season with 49 and was the last man out batting at number four. He had some help from Gary Hughes with 24. Five of the Narberth batsmen failed to score, including four players who had been in the first team the previous week! Manorbier ended the season with a four wickets win at home to Llangwm Thirds, who were dismissed for 142.

Division Four

The four-horse promotion race at the top of Division Four ended with Pembroke Dock being promoted as champions and Lamphey Seconds in second place just five points ahead of Lawrenny Seconds. Pembroke Dock travelled to play Stackpole Seconds who are fighting to avoid relegation. John Davies took 5 for 15 for the visitors as the Stackpole team were held to 99 for 9, with Robert Johns top scoring on 36. A class innings of 53 not out by Peter Kingdom steered the Dock to an eight wickets win on reaching a total of 100 for 2. The result clinched the division championship for the Dock and consigned Stackpole Seconds to play in Division Five next season. The players of Carew Thirds were looking out for the result of that match with a degree of interest as their home match against Neyland Seconds was called off because the Kilgetty pitch was too wet. However, with Stackpole Seconds losing, Carew Thirds have held on to their Division Four position. In the local derby at Lamphey, the visitors, Pembroke Seconds, were bowled out for 78, despite the efforts of Simon Smith-Wrench with 19. Grant Cole took 3 for 16, Haydn Cole 3 for 49 and there were two wickets each for skipper Andrew Skeels and Keith Silcox. Lamphey Seconds lost wickets chasing the total, but a captain's inning of 21 not out by Andrew Skeels, supported by Wayne Shanklin with 13 not out, took Lamphey to a four wickets win and a total of 79 for 6, with Nick Johnson contributing 15 earlier. Whitland Seconds scored 188 for 7 at home to Camrose and Spittal Seconds. Skipper Stuart Harries promoted himself to number three, a decision which was justified as he scored 46, including six 4s, opener Iwan Bevan had a solid 26, Darren Rees scored 20 and lower order batsman Carl Stephenson was 39 not out with six 4s and a six. Gareth Leggett took 4 for 31 for Camrose and Spittal Seconds, who were bowled out for 79 in reply. The visitors had reached 44 for 3 when Stuart Harries decided to come on to bowl. However, the championship has been awarded to Hook Seconds under league rule 11 which refers to the average points per completed game. The Hook average was 25.5 and the Kilgetty average 25.2. Whitland Thirds won by four wickets at home to St. Ishmaels Seconds to retain a place in Division Five next season. St. Ishmaels Seconds had been restricted to a total of 92 for 9, with Rob Cockburn scoring 39 and Liam Duffield 17. Jonathan Davies had an excellent spell of 6 for 14 and Andrew Williams backed up with 2 for 22. Whitland Thirds also found the batting hard going on a rain-affected Llanddewi Velfrey pitch, but eventually reached a total of 95 for 6 to win by four wickets with one over left. Carl Roach scored 23 not out after openers Andrew Williams and Dawood Parker had scored 15 and 13, respectively. The Whitland team also had the benefit of 25 extras. Glyn Pawlett took 2 for 15 for the visitors and Paul Griffiths 2 for 23.
