The challenge is on to count up a record-breaking charity total from Tenby's Boxing Day Swim. The 2005 event attracted its biggest-ever entry of nearly 600 swimmers, and hopes are high it will raise a huge sum of cash for good causes. Swimmers either collected sponsorship for their own charities or those nominated by organisers, the Tenby Sea Swimming Association - Start, the Wales Air Ambulance, the Jubilee Sailing Trust, Portfield School and Tenby Playgroup. Said TSSA chairman Chris Osborne: "We already know of some outstanding fund-raising efforts, and are appealing for everyone who has collected money to notify us so we can add their total to our overall sum raised for charity, as well as rewarding our top collectors." These are trophies on offer for the highest- sponsored senior and junior swimmers for TSSA charities, as well as the best individual and group efforts. Certificates will be awarded to everyone raising more than £100, while groups collecting more than £100 will receive Brass Monkey awards. Sponsor money for TSSA charities should be handed in to the Fourcroft Hotel as soon as possible.
