The success of Tenby's Jubilee Play Park was praised again this week by a local councillor.

Clr. Mike Evans said that the scheme had been so successful that everyone involved should be proud. He also suggested a new element to the development that could get local schools involved too.

"It's been such a success the play park, but we have to make sure it is managed successfully too," he told members at Tuesday night's meeting of the town council.

"What we need is to put some rules up that the children and skateboarders can adhere to, and display them in a way that they are going to pay attention to them and show respect to all who use the facility," explained Clr. Evans.

He said he had seen the work of a local graffiti artist recently at Pembrokeshire Fish Week, which had given him an idea that children from the local schools could come forward with designs to be a part of a competition to get their drawings outlining different rules displayed at the play park.

"It would look pretty cool for the children to have their designs made part of the play park," he added.

Clr. Mrs. Christine Brown felt it was a brilliant idea and proposed that progress be made on the suggestion. She also asked if some bulb planting could be carried out at the play park.

The town clerk, Mr. Andrew Davies, said that there was £12,000 outstanding on loan to the Friends of the Jubilee Park, who were still fundraising towards the facility and had a big event lined up for February to be held at the De Valence, with the Mayor, Clr. Trevor Hallett, agreeing to use his 'charity night' for the occasion.
