Town councillors have objected to plans to create an adult gaming centre in part of Tenby's Wimpy Restaurant. The application for the change of use and alterations of part of the ground floor of the premises in St. George Street/ Church Street, came before the council on Tuesday night. The proposals have been submitted by Frank Booth and Sons Ltd, who own 'Serendipity' Family Entertainment, on the opposite corner to the Wimpy, but they have yet to go before the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority. As revealed last week, the application follows new legislation by the Gambling Commission which says that machines which can only be played by 18- year-olds must now be separated from family gaming areas. "I honestly think that the majority of people living in the town wouldn't want another arcade on that street, it's just not in keeping with the rest of the town," commented Clr. Mrs. Julie Evans. Her colleague, Clr. Mrs. Tish Rossiter, agreed. "Although there's no doubting that 'Serendipity' is a well managed and run establishment, I wouldn't want to see an expansion of another gaming centre, encroaching onto another building," she said. Councillors voted to object to the planning application.
