Complaints about the condition of Tenby's Nelson's Walk have been passed on to the owner, it was revealed this week.

Speaking at Tuesday night's meeting of Tenby Town Council, Clr. Mrs. Marilyn Cray explained that she had been stopped several times by people in the street complaining about the fact that lights were off in the walkway.

"They also complained about the amount of litter in there," she commented.

"People seem to think that this is a council owned walkway, but it is not. It is in private ownership. We have got in touch with the owner and I'm delighted to say that yesterday the lights were back on and the rubbish has been cleaned up."

Clr. Mickey Folland commented that he had also raised the matter of the condition of the walkway with the county council.

"The walkway is private and, in fact, the electricity for lighting it is paid for by the private individuals," he said.

However, Clr. Folland felt that, as the owner had been contacted, there was no need to take up council time over the matter.

"There are many things that, as in this case, can be resolved either with a 'phone call, or by bringing them to either my or fellow county councillor Clr. Michael Williams' attention," he said.

"With respect, Clr. Mrs. Cray is just notifying us of the action taken so that people don't think we ignore their complaints," Clr. Mrs. Maureen Ward commented.
