After viewing plans of changes to the seating area opposite Tenby's W. H. Smith in High Street, as part of the town's enhancement scheme, local councillors are to write to Pembrokeshire County Council with a view to altering the style of railings that have been proposed. The proposed changes feature the erection of railings with arrow heads. However, Clr. Mrs. Kerry Durham commented at Tuesday night's meeting of the town council that the railings could be a health and safety concern for children who might be able to climb them. "I think the spikes on top of the railings could be extremely dangerous for children who might be tempted to climb up them," she said. Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane, also hoped the design could be modified. "The plans for the area are very nice, but we're very concerned about the railings, and would prefer to see a design with rounded tops," she said. The town council will now forward their views to the county council with work on the scheme set to continue in the New Year.
