Nacro a Lead Provider of ‘Connecting Carmarthenshire’ will be holding an open day event on September 6, showcasing the new community focussed preventative service helping people to access free help and support.

From 10 am to 3 pm anybody can come along to the Hwb Carmarthen and meet Connecting Carmarthenshire Partners Nacro, Pobl, Mencap, Carmarthen Mind, Age Cymru Dyfed, Adferaid, Wallich who provide the Connecting Carmarthenshire service, as well as over 30 other partner organisations.

Connecting Carmarthenshire is there to help anybody seeking information, signposting and support to community wellbeing services in the county.

Working with Carmarthenshire Council they can offer information advice and support on housing related support, mental health support, physical health support, learning disability, autism and older people peer-to-peer support and more.

Whether you’re looking to get out and find someone to talk to, looking for a group activity to join or you need help filling out forms for your new home, Connecting Carmarthenshire is here for you.

At the open day, there will be a chance to chat to organisations but there will also be demonstrations and workshops from:

• Barod, showing their ‘Assist My Life’ app

• Age Cymru Dyfed, showing the use of virtual reality headsets in their work

• Age Cymru Dyfed, demonstrating their digital IT project - And more!

Heidi Wilton-Baker, Nacro Connecting Carmarthenshire service lead provider, said: “This is going to be such a wonderful event, where we can really show the community what is on offer and help everyone.

“Whether you just want somebody to talk to, help finding support or groups in the community or more, we are here to help.”

Carmarthenshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Health and Social Care, Cllr. Jane Tremlett said: “Improving and maintaining people’s wellbeing, tackling isolation and loneliness, and connecting people and communities with the services that can help them is what this event is all about, and it’s for free.

“I would encourage anybody who is seeking support to attend Connecting Carmarthenshire at the Carmarthen Hwb.”
