The trustees and management of Shalom House, St. David's, are delighted to welcome you to this special concert.

Pembrokeshire's first palliative care respite/daycare centre - Shalom House - was officially opened on November 23, 2007.

Pembrokeshire author Elizabeth de Guise had gifted her bungalow, at 113 Nun Street, to the county to create a respite/palliative care centre for people with life-limiting illnesses.

A trust was set-up, and it took 13 years of hard work by trustees, management committee, fund-raisers and the people of Pembrokeshire to enable her dream to become reality.

Shalom House is open to patients of all ages, from all over the county. Since its opening, it has supported some 80 people and their families.

They have received daytime respite palliative care, including nursing and occupational therapy, as well as complementary therapies and counselling.

The vision for the future is to provide overnight respite care at Shalom's specially adapted unit. Dedicated staff and management are working tirelessly towards this goal.

On behalf of the trustees and management, Margaret Burnett, founder of Shalom House, would like to thank the fund-raisers for their unstinting work and enthusiasm in organising this concert.

Special thanks also go to Chevron for sponsoring this event and Phil Thompson, in particular, for his continued support; Chris Llewellyn and the Pembrokeshire County Council Music Service and all those talented young people taking part - you will be captivated by their performance.

Thank you for your support, the money raised will be used for patients' care at Shalom House.
