Penally Community Council has sought support from Tenby Town Council in objecting to a licensing application by Jammo's nightclub, Penally. The club is proposing their opening hours to 3 am, and also varying the lap dancing nights held from once a month to fortnightly. However, Tenby councillors agreed at a recent meeting that they were unable to support Penally council's views, as the club was out of their jurisdiction. Clr. John Griffiths said: "Until we receive more information and facts and figures on what Penally council are objecting to, then I don't feel we have sufficient grounds as a council to make a decision either way." Clr. Mrs. Kerri Durham also revealed that she and Clr. Griffiths had attended a seminar in County Hall, Havefordwest, when new legislation on licensing matters to be introduced next month were discussed. "In view of what was discussed regarding licensing issues at the seminar, I feel that we would need more information before we can justify supporting Penally council," she said. "I can see from a practical and a business point of view from Jammo's as to why they would wish to alter their hours to fall in line with the new licensing laws, but I can also see how the residents in Penally would be opposed to the later opening hours," she added.
