Over the Bank Holiday weekend, volunteers from the community joined County Councillors from across the locality on a cross ward litter pick.
The focus was on cleaning up Devonshire Drive, Hopshill Lane, and Moreton section of the A488. The event held on Sunday, April 30, was a huge success, with 22 bags of litter collected.
The litter pick was organised by Cllr Rhys Jordan (St Florence and St Mary Out Liberty) and Cllr Chris Williams (Saundersfoot South) with support from Pembrokeshire County Council’s street cleansing team. Councillors invited community members to join them in the effort to keep Pembrokeshire clean and green.
The event was attended by several other county councillors including - Vanessa Thomas, Huw Murphy, and Alec Cormack. Councillors praised the volunteers for their hard work and dedication in helping to keep the community clean.
“I want to thank all the volunteers who came out today to help us clean up our community,” said Cllr Jordan.
“It’s great to see so many people coming together to make a difference.”
Councillrs would also like to extend their gratitude to Nicky Young and his team from PCC’s street cleansing teamfor their support and contribution in making the event a success.
Huge thanks also goes to Charles at Heatherton World of Adventures for providing hot drinks and bacon rolls to the volunteers after the event. It was certainly welcomed after the wet weather!
The next litter pick is already being planned and Councillrs are encouraging residents to get involved.
“We hope that more people will join us for the next litter pick,” continued Cllr Williams.
“It's a great way to make a difference in our community and keep our environment clean and healthy.”
Councillors would like to thank all the volunteers who participated in the litter pick and are looking forward to working with the community on future events.
