ROLL up! Penally Short Mat Bowls Club is rolling out its green carpets and opening its doors to the public for a free, fun-filled Short Mat Bowls Open Day on Saturday, August 15.
The event takes place between 12 noon and 5pm at Penally Village Hall, Penally, SA70 7PT.
“We are eager to welcome fresh faces into our club” says Club Chairman, Clive Law.
“Short mat bowls is unique because it removes the barriers found in many other sports. It is easy to pick up, intensely strategic, and incredibly social. Whether you are looking for gentle fitness, a new hobby, or simply want a chat over a cup of tea with friendly local people, this open day is the perfect opportunity to see what we are all about.”
All ages, genders, backgrounds, and abilities are invited to try their hand at this highly social, fast-growing indoor sport. Children are welcome, providing they are accompanied by an adult.
Attendance is completely free, and no pre-booking is required—visitors are welcome to pop in at any time during the session. A pair of flat shoes (clean, indoor shoes) would be useful, this is to protect the mats, otherwise all the necessary equipment—including a variety of bowls will be provided by the club. Specialised bowling arms are available for anyone who has trouble bending down.
Experienced coaches and club volunteers will be available to offer step-by-step guidance, ensuring newcomers can get onto the mats and roll their first bowls within minutes.
You can be assured of a warm welcome along with tea and biscuits!
