Tenby Fire Station promised a ‘dry’ carnival this summer, due to the current drought conditions across parts of Wales - but that didn’t stop those taking part in the fancy dress and float parade from stirring things up a few traditional famous ‘water fights’ factored in here and there!
Due to the need to conserve water, Tenby Fire Station has confirmed that it would not be using fire hoses during this year’s carnival.
The Firefighters Carnival is one of the highlights of the summer calendar for the seaside town, with the charitable event taking place on Wednesday, August 5, never failing to capture the imagination of the crowds that line the streets of the procession, or the numerous floats and fancy-dressed competitors taking part.
Once again, the main recipient of the money raised by Tenby's dedicated band of firefighters during the course of the day, was the Firefighters' Charity.
The fun started at 10am with an open day at Tenby's fire station along the South Parade, featuring fire safety demonstrations throughout the day, as well as activities, fair rides, stalls, refreshments, and a grand raffle. There was also an educational appliance situated in Tudor Square throughout the day.
