KILGETTY WI enjoyed a strawberry cream tea and an evening of ‘swishing’, an excellent way of recycling clothing.

This took place on Tuesday, July 8. The meeting began with vice president Julia Mills welcoming members and three guests. Apologies were read out and best wishes were given to members Sally Sayer, Mary Perry and Sylvia Wright who will be celebrating their birthdays during July.

Members were updated on President Lyn Lawson’s progress. Nicole Bowles was thanked for arranging such a successful and enjoyable trip in June. Treasurer Sylvia Wright read out the monthly financial report and final arrangements were made for the trip to the County Show next month.

An update was given on the bench being donated by Kilgetty WI to Begelly Church. Members were informed of the activities planned by the WI for Kilgetty Fun Day in August and there was an appeal for volunteers to man the stalls. Julia thanked the committee for organising and producing a delicious strawberry tea and encouraged more members to join the committee. Suggestions for speakers for 2026 were invited.

Once the business side of the meeting concluded, members helped themselves to scones, jam, clotted cream, fresh local strawberries and blueberries and enjoyed social time with tea and coffee.

‘Swishing’ followed where members brought items of clothing and accessories to swap with items brought by other members. Items which were left at the end of the evening were taken to Greenacres Animal Rescue charity shop in Narberth.

Linda Price won the raffle.

As members are going to the County Show in August, the next meeting will be held at Kilgetty Community Centre on Tuesday, September 9 where the speaker will be from the RNLI. Anyone interested in becoming a member should contact vice president Julia.
