July 7 was a special summer celebration for Penally Bridge Club, featuring a delicious buffet lunch.

The buffet was organised by Brenda and prepared and served in the village hall by well-known local caterer Bronwen Knox.

There was such a varied display of culinary treats that it was difficult to decide what not to have, writes JCG. We were already well filled when the strawberry roulade was brought in along with other creamy delights. The raffle followed and everyone managed to win a prize – lots of wine and chocolate found good homes.

Then back to the serious business of Duplicate Bridge. Four tables were in play and the winners were Pam & Kath with a good score of 59.03%. Second were John & Jill with 54.86%, including a Slam, and third were Paul & Stuart with 52.78%. Brenda & Alan also managed a Slam but were a bit down the scores list.

It was such a pleasure to enjoy lunch and play on ‘home turf’ and the club has Brenda and Alan to thank for organising such a convivial afternoon.

Why not come and join the players at one of their regular Bridge sessions in the Village Hall at 1.15pm each Monday? There is ample parking and refreshments are available.
