PEMBROKE Dock played host to costumed Star Wars characters, droids and fans of all ages on Bank Holiday Monday for the town’s fourth Falcon Fun Day.

Falcon Fun Day is an annual Star Wars-themed family event held in Pembroke Dock Heritage Centre and its grounds, celebrating the town’s link to the iconic Millennium Falcon.

The last ship to be built in the Royal Pembroke Dockyard, the starship was constructed in 1979 for The Empire Strikes Back, the second film in the ever-popular Star Wars trilogy. The Heritage Centre has a permanent exhibition dedicated to it.

The event featured the Imperial Welsh Squad of the 501st UK Garrison Star Wars Costuming Club, providing an opportunity to hang out with some Star Wars characters on a huge weekend of celebration for the Star Wars universe with the launch of the long awaited Mandalorian and Grogu movie.

The weather was beautiful - perfect for a lightsaber lesson, but, as someone pointed out, probably rather hot to cosplay as a wookiee! There was also plenty of Star Wars merchandise available, and visitors were able to experience everything the Centre has to offer, the Sunderland flight simulator proving popular.

Cadets from Pembroke Dock and Neyland Detachment held a recruiting stand. Throughout the day, cadets engaged with members of the public, spoke about opportunities within the Army Cadet Force, and proudly represented the detachment within the local community.

Town Councillor Michele Wiggins said: “Thank you to Pembroke Dock heritage centre for putting on a wonderful Falcon Fun Day today. Once again thank you to everyone who helped and gave up their Bank Holiday to help out. You never know who you may bump into in Pembroke Dock.

“Another lovely day with our wonderful community and a big thank you to [DJ] Lionel who is always helping somewhere.”

Pembroke Dock Heritage Centre expressed “huge thanks” to all who came along - costumers, visitors, families, modellers, supporters, “and especially our brilliant volunteers who worked so hard to make the day a success.”
