CHRISTIANS from Churches all around Pembroke, Pembroke Dock and the surrounding country villages joined together at the Church of St Faith and St Tyfei, Lamphey for the ecumenical World Day of Prayer service.

This year the service on the first Friday of March was prepared by the Christian Women from Nigeria and the theme was ‘I will give you rest, come’.

Partakers in the service were inspired to work towards a world without injustice, insecurity, marginalisation, religious persecution, poverty and despair. Trusting in God as their burden bearer, believers become one body in Christ, receiving and bringing rest to the world.

Those taking part in the Lamphey service joined a great wave of prayer which encircled the globe, beginning in Samoa and ending, 146 countries later, in American Samoa, all praying with, and for the country and people of Nigeria.

A collection, amounting to £255, has been forwarded to the UK office to help charities both at home and worldwide.
