REPRESENTING Narberth Town Council, Mayor Cllr Elizabeth Rogers joined fellow Mayors and civic dignitaries from across the county at Haverfordwest for the annual Beating of the Bounds.
The celebration on Sunday, June 14 helped to strengthen the close relationship between neighbouring communities whilst celebrating an important part of Pembrokeshire’s shared history and heritage.
Dating back hundreds of years, the tradition originally involved local people travelling the boundaries of their town to preserve knowledge of its limits and jurisdiction. Today, the event remains one of Pembrokeshire’s most distinctive civic traditions, combining heritage, community activities and a spectacular river procession along the Western Cleddau.
This year’s event brought together civic leaders, community organisations, residents and visitors from across Pembrokeshire. Alongside the traditional river procession, the celebrations included family activities, entertainment, community stalls and opportunities for local organisations to engage with the public.
Narberth Town Council extends its thanks to Haverfordwest Town Council, volunteers, community groups and organisers for their warm welcome and for delivering another successful celebration of this longstanding tradition.
