Lower Landsker Trefoil Guild members in Tenby have been making the most of the beautiful weather with their Wednesday walks.

Sitting on Tenby Harbour in early summer sunshine, enjoying a cup of coffee with good friends must surely be one of the perks of being retired!

Two of members have even ventured up to Allen’s View to check on the oak tree planted in celebration of 80 years of Trefoil.

May 7, though, saw a very special get together as members celebrated VE day with a delicious picnic lunch complete with prosecco in the gardens opposite Croft Court.

The sun shone and it was good to have our oldest member, Dorothy, with us to share her memories of being a Guide during the war.

It is well documented that Guides and Guide Leaders played their part throughout World War 2, both at home and abroad.

The memories gleaned from parents were also shared and members even managed to sing a few old songs to get into the spirit of the occasion. Some members also joined the procession to Castle Hill on May 8 to see the lighting of the beacon, and it was good to see so many people celebrating the efforts of generations past which have enabled us to live in peace.

Last Wednesday members continued their policy of trying all the cafes of Tenby by meeting for a delicious lunch, again, in the sunshine of the garden at Motley’s in South Parade. Members do seem to spend a great deal of time eating and drinking!

The June meeting will see the Guild make its annual pilgrimage to Caldey so members are praying that the beautiful weather will continue.

Over the past few weeks the Guild has welcomed new members Suzanne, Margaret and Sylvie and all hope they find the fun and friendship that is such an important part of Trefoil.
