NARBERTH Museum adds an historic children's game, the iron hoop and stick, to its collection, thanks to a donation from a private museum.

Narberth’s museum was delighted to be the new home for a heavy iron hoop and stick (cylch a bachyn) children’s game donated by the Llangwm-based private museum that is closing its doors after two decades.

Hoop rolling has been a popular game for thousands of years and in countries across the world. It was especially played here by children in the Victorian period.

“We are really pleased to be able to show school groups toys from the past and this game is a wonderful and much appreciated addition to our collection,” said a spokesperson for Narberth museum.
