The 80-year story of an iconic Spitfire fighter and how it came to be a museum star in Pembrokeshire will be related at the June meeting of the Pembrokeshire Aviation Group.
Spitfire JG668, a very rare Mark VIII version, is centrepiece of the Welsh Spitfire Museum located in Bridge Street, Haverfordwest. It was built in 1944 and went to the Royal Australian Air Force. After decades in Australia it was brought back to the UK and on to Pembrokeshire in 2007.
Ray Burgess, the driving force behind the Welsh Spitfire restoration, is the speaker at the meeting, taking place at Pembroke Dock Heritage Centre on Tuesday June 10 at 7.30pm.
