Neyland Ladies Choir can look back on an industrious term as they anticipate a well-earned break for the summer.

The term started with some of the ladies joining a massed choir event in Albany Chapel, Haverfordwest, to mark VE Day with a celebratory concert. In addition, a few of ladies from the choir, dressed in red, white, and blue, attended Neyland’s VE celebrations at the Community Hub.

A mystery tour was next on the social calendar in June with a first stop at Melyn Tregwynt before crossing the Preselis for a walk around Narberth. The tour ended with an enjoyable luncheon at the Hotel Mariners.

July started with a fundraising concert at St Twynnells Church, when the choir performed a varied programme to a large, appreciative audience. The ladies were fortunate to be joined by a local talented flautist, Elys Phillips. The members of the church provided a beautiful supper for the ladies and guests afterwards.

Two days later, the choir took part in Neyland’s Civic Service at St Clement's Church opening with Neyland Town Anthem and Awake My Soul.

The hardworking ladies braved the extreme temperatures to put the human Tic Tac Toe into operation for Neyland Carnival on July 9. They had a surprise visit by Wales First Minister Eluned Morgan and the town mayor Peter Hay who both drew the tickets for the raffle.

The last concert of the summer was at St Mary’s Church, Tenby, where the choir shared the stage with Tenby Male Choir. It was a well attended concert, with both choirs showcasing their varied repertoire to the delight of the audience and ending with a united rendition of the wonderful Welsh hymn Rachie.

A few new faces joined old friends and supporters on Wednesday, July 16 for the final rehearsal before the summer break. The rehearsal was followed by a social get together to celebrate a successful year.
