SUMMERHILL WI warmly welcomed Julian Cremona for a detailed talk and slideshow of ‘A Journey through Chile’ - from incredibly arid dessert to areas of torrential rain.

Members were treated to beautiful photographs of cacti over 1,000 years old, along with some amazingly coloured flowers, as well as quaint mud-built villages and an incredible range of birds and animals.

Following a vote of thanks from Linda, refreshments were served by Dawn, Sandra and Marilyn, with Sandra winning the raffle.

Thanks were given to Hilary for the beautiful top table flowers, to ladies for their food bank donations and to Linnia who will deliver them to Narberth.

Birthday greetings were given to Anne D for July, with Margaret L and Kay celebrating theirs in the holiday month of August. Many congratulations were given to Flis on the upcoming marriage of her daughter.

Everyone agreed that the June outing to FRAME and Stackpole Gardens along with the Strawberry Tea had both been very successful days. Flis, Dawn, Belinda and Kay had a really enjoyable afternoon when they entered the Car Treasure Hunt with food served afterward at Ludchurch Hall.

The Federation Letter was discussed, correspondence read and the financial statement given before the rotary club shoe boxes were distributed with members reminded to return them in September.

President Marlene then wished everyone a happy holiday. The next meeting will be a harvest celebration on September 14 at 7pm at Amroth Parish Hall, Summerhill. The meeting will also welcome Roz Oak for a talk about the risk of fraud and scams.
