The first art show for 2015 at Tenby Museum and Art Gallery was officially opened on Saturday.
The exhibition, Mermaids, Molluscs and Mosaics, features work from four Pembrokeshire Primary Schools - Sageston, St. Teilo's, Saundersfoot and Tenby Juniors and two community based organisations - The Avenue Social Activity Centre, Tenby and Hafal Tenby Resource Initiative.
The exhibition has been generously sponsored by Valero, and museum honorary curator, Neil Westerman, thanked Valero for their continued support with the museum's annual education exhibition.
The exhibition was officially opened by Cate Thornton, representative of Valero, who described the exhibition as "joyful, filled with wonderful pieces of work full of imagination, vibrancy, colour and excitement."
Artist Guy Manning provided invaluable assistance in judging the winning entries from each school, calling the show 'an exhibition designed to make you smile and it does so brilliantly.'
Each school and contributing organisation was presented with prize money of £175.
The winners from each school were: Marnie Bullock (1st) and Paige Burton (2nd) from Sageston; Ameya Neye, Gwen Dodd and Caitlin Rees (1st) and Darcy Conbeer, Anamika Selvakumar and Molly Hayes from St. Teilo's; James Naoe (1st) and George Duckett (2nd) from Saundersfoot; Grace White (1st) and Lily Mulholland (2nd) from Tenby Juniors.
Mark Lewis, collections manager at Tenby Museum, said: "This is a wonderful exhibition and we were so glad to be able to offer these community groups the space to show. The imagination and talent on display in the gallery is amazing. I encourage everyone to come and see the show, you will not be disappointed. We must also offer thanks to Martin Baldwin, volunteer at the museum, for once again framing the works so professionally."
The exhibition runs until Saturday, January 31. Currently the museum is open Tuesday-Saturday, 10 am - 5 pm (last admission 4.30 pm).
