Students from Pembrokeshire College have proved they are no lightweights when it comes to presentation.
A group of six entrepreneurs from the Business department have picked up a prestigious award from children's charity Barnardo's for their slick presentation skills.
The team was taking part in BIS (Business Incentive Scheme) organised by the charity and financial services organisation Friends Provident.
The scheme links in with GCSE and NVQ qualifications and this year 150 schools from across Britain were given £120 start up money through the scheme.
Pembrokeshire College hotshots, studying GNVQ qualifications, first caught the eye of BIS organisers after setting up their own office service business and raising a whopping £1,120 which they donated to Barnardo's Cymru.
They were then invited to take part in the BIS Regional Finals at Cheltenham Race Course where their showstopping presentation scooped the top place in its category.
Course tutor Ann Phillips said, "The students gave a very slick and confident presentation that was written entirely in rhyming verse.
"There was plenty of humour and a back ground of visual images produced from a Powerpoint presentation package on laptop computer.
"They only had two weeks to put the whole thing together but it was totally professional and a pleasure to watch."
The winning team included school leavers and mature students, some of whom had left school with little or no qualifications and had come back into the education system despite family responsibilities.
Barnardo's BIS organiser Marjorie Tibbits said: "This is the second year that the BIS has been running and it it a huge success.
"In 2000 £80,000 was raised, with the money going to help a disadvantage child or young person towards a better future.
"This year we have not got a final figure yet but we expect it to be substantially more.
"The scheme is a real winner and we will be running it into 2002 when it is hoped that this year's entrants will act as mentors for future BIS entrepreneurs."
Nigel Veal, Community Relations Manager for Friends Provident, presented the BIS presentation award to the winners.
He said, "I am absolutely astounded by the motivation and innovation the students have shown."
This is the second year that Pembrokeshire College has won the BIS presentation award.
The money that they raised will go towards the Yo-Yo Family Centre in Pembroke Dock and the Pembrokeshire Family Link Project which supports disabled young people and their families."
