Three new recruits have set to work helping to keep the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park special for everyone to enjoy. Gethin Young, Vikki Jarman and Sean Brosnan have been employed by the National Park Authority as Seasonal Wardens for the summer months, having completed an NVQ Level 2 in environmental conservation at Pembrokeshire College. The trio have been trained to use ride-on tractor mowers and pedestrian flails - meaning they can now help to keep footpaths and other areas of the National Park clear for people of all ages to access. Seasonal assistant site warden Sean said: "We're going to be out and about in all weathers, but I like working outside so I'm very much looking forward to it. I've lived in Pembrokeshire for about 10 years and I really love the county, it's a great area to live and work." The National Park Authority is a member of Pembrokeshire College's industrial liaison panel and each year offers work placements to conservation students. Senior National Park ranger Phil Lees said: "The idea is that the seasonal wardens get five months practical experience of what they've been learning at college and it hopefully increases their chances of being employed in an area they love. "We now have four permanent staff working for us who started as seasonal wardens from the Pembrokeshire College course. The college partnership has proved a real success story; it's a great stepping stone for people to get onto their chosen career ladder here in Pembrokeshire." South seasonal assistant warden Vikki added: "I'm working in the Park until the end of September and I'm really hoping there might be a full time warden's job with the National Park Authority at the end of it."
