Last Sunday, sunshine and the delightful gardens of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Scourfield Lewis at Colby Lodge, Amroth, provided the perfect setting for a very successful Tea Party in aid of the Saundersfoot, Tenby and District committee of Macmillan Cancer Relief. The event raised over £2,000 for Macmillan, a charity that relies on voluntary donations and which provides free services to cancer patients. Over 130 guests supported the event and they enjoyed the beautiful surroundings, a sumptuous tea presented by the committee and other helpers, a chance to catch up with friends from all over Pembrokeshire, and also an impressive and enjoyable jazz recital from 'Two from Tenby'; Brian Jobson on keyboard and Dick Williams on cornet. Grateful thanks were given to Cynthia and Anthony Scourfield Lewis, to everyone who had attended and sent donations for the event, to 'Two from Tenby' and to the hard-working sub-committee, led by Ann Einon, and to all other helpers. In the UK today, over one million people are living with cancer and four in 10 people will be diagnosed with cancer during their lifetimes. Macmillan plays a very vital role in cancer care: the charity provides its trademark nurses, doctors and allied health professionals, cancer units, educational and information services, and also patient grants which can help to ease financial difficulties that cancer sufferers might face.
