A very successful coffee morning was held in the Town Hall, Pembroke, on September 6, in aid of Cancer Research Wales. It was organised by ladies who received excellent treatment at Withybush Hospital last year and was their way of saying 'thank you'. Cancer Research Wales was chosen because all money raised is spent in Wales. The event was very well supported by friends, relatives and holidaymakers, with some from as far away as Germany. The town crier, Mrs. Rose Blackburn, and her faithful canine friend, came along to liven things up, together with the Mayoress of Pembroke, Mrs. Natalie Carey, and the Mayor of Pembroke Dock, Clr. Mrs. Pam George, who drew the raffle. Winners of the raffle were: £50 Tesco voucher - Peter Lawler; £25 Tesco voucher - Mrs. M. Kenniford; £25 Tesco voucher - Dewi Wagstaff. A magnificent patchwork quilt was donated and raffled on the day and won by Mrs. Freda Griffiths. A total of £1,430 was raised and sincere thanks are sent to everyone who helped to make this event such a success.
