Macmillan's Tenby, Saundersfoot and District Committee raised over £1,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support last weekend, when three coffee mornings were held around the area as part of this UK-wide event.

Grateful thanks go to Marion Hutton in Tenby, Frank and Jean Lindsey in Kilgetty and Cynthia and Tony Scourfield Lewis at Colby Lodge, who welcomed people to the three different venues to enjoy a morning of coffee, delicious homemade cakes, jams and a raffle, with fabulous sunshine thrown in.

Once again, local people supported these events in order to raise such a superb amount for this very worthy cause.

It was just over a week ago that Jane and Roger Harries, of the Amroth Arms, held a Curry Night to host the culmination of a summer raffle in aid of Macmillan, which raised well over £2,000, thanks to the generosity of Barclays Bank, who matched £ for £ up to £750 as part of the Barclays Community Investment Programme.

Jean King, community manager for Barclays, said: "At Barclays, we strive to strengthen local communities in which we live and work by supporting a range of causes.

"This is a fantastic example of Barclays staff fund-raising with the local community to achieve something which we hope will make a real and lasting difference," she added.

Despite the poor weather over the summer, the generosity and hard work of supporters, volunteers and local businesses cannot be overstated and the committee want them all to know just how much their support is appreciated.
