More than 100 of the UK’s most fanatical roller coaster fans enjoyed their annual pilgrimage to Oakwood Theme Park earlier this month.

Members of the Roller Coaster Club of Great Britain visited the Pembrokeshire attraction for the 28th year as part of a special weekend of thrills including special fancy dress night glow rides on Megafobia, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.

Chairman of the RCCGB, Andy Hine MBE, who has ridden well over 2,000 different roller coasters, said: “We have visited Oakwood to ride Megafobia every year since it opened in 1996 and it is running as good today as it was on day one.

“You always get on smiling and get off laughing. And the first thing you say is, let’s ride it again!

“Wales should be proud that they have one of the best wooden coasters in the world - it definitely gets a gold medal from the coaster enthusiasts!” he added.

Members of the club also rode Speed and the park’s other rides and took part in a baseball game, with wooden coaster fans pitted against steel coaster fans.

Set in more than 90 acres of spectacular Pembrokeshire countryside Oakwood is one of the UK’s leading theme parks.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Megafobia - one of the planet’s most popular wooden roller coasters.
