Recently, Coastcare groups from around Pembrokeshire came together for an evening at Neyland Yacht Club. The event was well attended and gave an opportunity for Coastcare groups to share ideas and socialise. A hot buffet was provided, followed by a slideshow and talk by local diver John Woolford, who took the audience on a tour of the Pembrokeshire coastline and its fascinating wildlife. Shots from both above and below the waterline provided an insight into many of Pembrokeshire's special habitats, from the murky depths of the Daugleddau to the clearer coastal waters around the county. The Pembrokeshire Coastcare Group Association is made up of the 32 coastcare groups in Pembrokeshire. Each group adopts a local stretch of coastline and focuses on its on ongoing care. Last year, over 1700 volunteers put in 3,500 hours of their spare time to clear 1,250 bags of rubbish from Pembrokeshire's beaches as part of Keep Wales Tidy's Clean Coasts Project. The evening was funded by Keep Wales Tidy, which receives Interreg IIIA funding.
