SATURDAY saw the official opening of an exhibition of coastal paintings by Arthur Lewis.
The display at Haverfordwest's Oriel Emrys Gallery runs until May 18 and was opened by Lord Parry of Neyland.
In this exhibition, Arthur concentrates on the changing atmosphere of the Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire coastline, finding inspiration in its moods and energies.
In his paintings 'Worm's Head', 'Amroth', 'Whitesands', 'Towards Pendine', he aims to capture the atmosphere of the moment, reflecting the constantly changing interaction between the sea and sky, experiencing the calm subtle energies of the sun's momentary intrusion.
With a teaching career which has spanned both the UK and Kenya under his belt, Arthur's last exhibition was held at Art Matters in Tenby last November, where he holds adult workshops currently in pastel and mixed media.
On returning to the UK from Kenya in 1975, Arthur opened the Landscape Gallery in Templeton and exhibited around the county whilst on the staff at Pembroke School.
Since 1992, he has been a full-time practising artist based in Cwmfelin Boeth where he is building a studio/cottage.
The Oriel Emrys Gallery at 15 High Street, Haverfordwest, is open Monday to Saturday from 9.30 am until 5 pm.
