The ‘Walk For Ukraine’ fundraiser organised by Team Littlefoot last Sunday morning, proved to be a very successful event, with over £800 raised so far through the event.

Starting from Penally Station in pouring rain, the 30 walkers (led by Team Littlefoot’s Debbie Ludlow, Lynn Knibbs and Lyn Sandall) and several dogs made their way along the windy coast path to Bubbleton Farm Cafe where hot drinks and refreshments were served.

Dressed mainly in blue and yellow and carrying sunflowers to show their support to the war torn country of Ukraine, the intrepid group, after a rest and a chat walked back to Penally in glorious sunshine.

“Over £800 has so far been raised through the event, which is amazing,” said Lyn.

“This money is to be sent to Lynn Knibbs's cousin Sandra who lives between Budapest and the Ukraine border and is very involved with caring and supporting some of the many thousands of refugees who are streaming into Hungary.

“Sandra visits the border most days and therefore knows exactly what the refugees requirements are at that moment. So this money will go directly to helping to provide these daily requirements.

“She is currently sleeping on her living room floor as she has nine refugees staying with her - three mothers and six children, unrelated,” she continued.

“Many thanks goes to the walkers and dogs who turned up on Sunday, and to everyone who has donated money. Also many thanks to Bubbleton Farm Cafe for keeping the walkers going with refreshments,” added Lyn.

Team Littlefoot are planning further walks in the near future and other fundraising events to enable Sandra to assist these people.
