The Co-operative is encouraging its members, customers and employees across South West Wales to take action on environmental issues by attending a special workshop and beach survey in Kilgetty later this month.

The consumer-owned retailer has teamed up with the Marine Conservation Society (MCS) to support its Beachwatch campaign and run a series of workshops to educate more people on how they can protect coastlines and wildlife.

Members and shoppers across South West Wales can attend the workshop on Sunday, June 28, at Kilgetty which will detail how litter affects people and wildlife and threatens coastlines. The workshop will offer practical training on the survey methodology and how to identify different types of litter.

MCS Welsh officer Gill Bell will also show how to use the data collected locally, before attendees hit Saundersfoot beach to put their training into practice.

Advance booking is essential to attend the workshop and priority will be given to Co-operative members. To register, please email [email protected]">[email protected]. Becoming a Co-operative member costs just £1 and application forms are available online at http://www.co-operative.coop">www.co-operative.coop.

Attendees should meet at the Kilgetty Co-operative food store at 10.30 am.

The Co-operative will be supporting additional MCS events throughout the year, including a coastal challenge sponsored walk in July.
