A climber was winched to safety on Saturday afternoon after falling at a well-known Pembrokeshire beauty spot.
Tenby, St. Govan's and Manorbier Coastguard teams, a helicopter, an ambulance and the police attended the cliffs at St. Govan's Head, after a 24- year-old experienced female climbing instructor fell some 40 feet from the climb known as the 'Arrow' after all her climb protectors came out of the rock. The coastguard team, together with a paramedic, were lowered down the 120-foot high cliffs and stabilised the casualty, who had fallen onto a rock ledge and seriously injured her spine.
Once in a stable condition, the rescue helicopter from RAF Chivenor winched the woman off the cliffs and transferred her to Withybush Hospital, Haverfordwest, for treatment.
The climber, from England, was lead climbing with another climber when the incident occurred.
