Dedicated to the enjoyment of live classical music, Span Arts’ Classical series makes a highly anticipated return with the Charlie Lovell-Jones Trio on Saturday, October 8, at Pisgah Chapel, Llandissilio.
Charlie Lovell-Jones has been described as one of the most promising young violinists in the UK. Charlie has given a number of solo performances with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, the RTE Concert Orchestra in Ireland and the English Chamber Orchestra.
He has simultaneously directed and performed Vaughan-Williams’ Concerto Accademico with Silk Street Sinfonia and has performed the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto with the Young Musician’s Symphony Orchestra in London. At the age of 15 he made his Royal Festival Hall solo debut, performing The Lark Ascending.
Charlie has won numerous prestigious competitions for instrumentalists in Wales and the UK, including the coveted Blue Riband Instrumental Prize at the National Eisteddfod.
Charlie will be accompanied by his father Simon on piano and his sister, Lizzie. Lizzie is a 14-year-old cellist who has been a member of the National Children’s Orchestra of Great Britain since she was nine-years-old and is a current holder of a coveted Leverhulme Scholarship in the orchestra for an outstanding audition chosen from hundreds across Britain.
Lizzie has twice won the Solo String Prize for her age group at the Urdd National Eisteddfod and is the 2016 winner of the Cardiff and Vale High Schools Orchestra Young Musician Award.
Pisgah Chapel provides the perfect backdrop to this colourful, music-filled evening. Tickets are available now and start from just £5. Call 01834 869323 or book online at spanarts.org.uk .
