On a crisp, but sunny November morning, Carew and Cresswell Quay Cancer Research Committee held their annual Christmas Coffee Morning at Cresselly YFC Hall.

Items on the stalls were Christmas, fancy, fresh vegetables, home-made cakes, chutneys and jams, for the large crowd of faithful supporters from far and wide who attended the event.

A wonderful amount of £1,756.20 was taken during the morning and shows what fantastic support this committee has. During the morning, tea, coffee and hot mince pies and sausage rolls were on hand for all to enjoy.

Vice-chairman Aileen spoke about the ongoing research that continues to cure some cancers and enabling others to live longer by taking medication, finishing by wishing everyone a happy Christmas.

Raffle prize winners were: Malcolm Richards, Sheila Lewis, Ivy Webb, Enid Scourfield, Jack James, Fiona, Netty Williams, Marina James, Brenda Waters, Jean Llewellyn, Vanessa Phillips, Marjorie Davies, Jean Sykes and Ms Wildboar.

A further raffle on Carol’s stall consisted of a huge Christmas hamper, won by Pat Harbud, with other prizes going to Sandra John, Jack James, Cath Mulrine and Marilyn Neale.

‘Guess the weight of the Christmas cake’, made and donated annually by Paula Ralph, was won by Marina James; 2. Janet Arthur; 3. Leslie Jones.

Through the year, the committee has been able to forward £14,500 to Head Office - thanks to all our supporters.

The committee would also like to thank everyone involved in making the coffee morning such a success, especially Duncan and Tim; we couldn’t have done it without them.
