Last Saturday, at the Brewery Inn, Cosheston, Pembroke and District Male Voice Choir filled the hostelry with some hearty singing in celebration of the wedding of a long-established member of their first bass section, John O'Connor.
Married that day, he and his bride Gill had requested a number of the items that were included in the choir's lusty rendering. Among these were 'Get Me to the Church on Time,' 'The Song of the Jolly Roger' and 'The Rose,' while the choir, conducted by Chris Lloyd, and with accompaniment from Jenny Griffiths and with Phil Lloyd running the proceedings, threw in a rousing 'Siyahamba' and 'Rachie for good measure.
A suitably drawn cartoon card by chorister George Lewis and signed by all their friends in the choir, was presented to the couple with all good wishes for the future, as had been done at John's brother Dennis's wedding only a year previously at Cilgerran.
Afterwards, the choir set with gusto about the refreshments and beverages provided for them by the grateful couple.
