Pembroke and District Male Voice Choir, under conductor Chris Lloyd, presented themselves in short sleeved order on Sunday at Milford Docks. The site of the refurbished Mackerel Stage was again the venue selected to celebrate Sea Sunday. A very warm, but calm morning, enabled the congregation to play their full part in the singing. A period of prayer and reflection for the terrible events in London was followed by offerings from the choir then prayers and addresses from Chris Barnes, Captain Mark Andrews MHCB, Mike Brotherton, RN chaplain, and former curate at St. Johns Pembroke Dock, and finally Ivor Rees, former Bishop of St. Davids. Gwyn Griffiths, conductor of Haverfordwest Male Voice Choir and deputy conductor of Milford Town Band, led his musicians in vigorous support of the hymn singing. 'The Saga Ruby' had called in to Milford Haven, anchoring just out of the channel opposite the Texaco Jetty and was embarking passengers for a cruise. Some of those passengers took the opportunity to join the service and enjoy the singing before sailing. The weather was perhaps a little too kind with the congregation having to deploy umbrellas against the sun rather than rain this year!
