A 16-year-old South Pembrokeshire musician has made it through from over 10,000 singers and bands across the country to perform at the live stages of Live and Unsigned. Live and Unsigned is a national music competition for unsigned bands and singers to compete live, the winner of which has a chance to sign a £20,000 recording and management contract. And Cherie Morgan from Summerhill, a Year 11 student at Greenhill School, Tenby, made it through the auditions at Bristol. She was amongst hundreds who queued patiently for their turn in front of the judges. Cherie got through to the semi-finals singing one of her own songs called 'Shut Up', which she wrote for her dad, Dave. Cherie has been writing and recording her own songs since she was 12 and last year was a semi- finalist in the UK Songwriting Contest with another of her songs called 'Get Over It'. Already having recorded her first album entitled 'Forever Young' (available at Dales Music Store, Tenby), Cherie, who has performed in various local festivals and concerts, is halfway through her second. A finalist and the youngest performer in Pembrokeshire Idol 07, she believes she is the only person in the county who got through to the semi- finals and now needs the support of the people of Pembrokeshire to help her progress through to the finals. Cherie is now preparing for the live stages where she will compete amongst 15 other hopefuls in their live show on March 29 in Bristol for a place in the regional final. A bus of supporters will be travelling to Bristol with Cherie to cheer her on.
