Tenby will be turning back the clock 600 years on Sunday as the town holds a special Mediaeval Charter Fayre in the shadow of its historic town walls.
Organised by Marion Davies, Val Coates Rees and members of Tenby 2020's environment and heritage committee, the Charter Fayre is Tenby 2020's contribution to the series of events marking the 600th anniversary of the granting of a charter to the town by Henry IV in 1402 giving the burgesses the right to elect a mayor.
From 11 am - when the fayre will be officially opened by present Mayor of Tenby, Clr. Mrs. Christine Brown - until 4 pm South Parade will be given a bustling mediaeval feel with live music, buskers, stalls selling Pembrokeshire produce and charity stalls.
Traders will be suitably attired in mediaeval costumes, while members of the Collegiate of Knights will also be on hand to add 15th century colour to proceedings.
Funding and additional support for the fayre has been provided by PLANED, the Welsh Development Agency, the Welsh Assembly Rural Recovery Programme, Tenby Town Council and the Rotary Club of Tenby, while prizes for the charity stalls have been provided by Woolworths, The Famous £1 Shop, W. H. Smith and Boots.
The organisers are also grateful for additional support and help provided by Pembrokeshire County Council.
