Tenby Town Council have agreed to donate £75 to Tenby Museum to help them set up a 'Story of Tenby' exhibition.

Museum curator, Mr. John Beynon, wrote to the council on Tuesday night stating that, as part of the Castle Hill museum's contribution to the town's Charter Year celebrations, a special exhibition was planned to commemorate the 1402 Charter, the lifeboat anniversary and others during the year.

The displays would be in the form of illustrated storyboards, and Mr. Beynon wondered if the council would consider a grant of £75 to provide the appropriate designs and illustrations for this display.

It was pointed out that the council had agreed that all requests for grant aid would only be considered in October, but Clr. Mickey Folland commented that this would be too late for the museum.

"The Charter Year will be half over by then," he said. "I feel we could consider this now, but, in line with our policy, we do need a balance sheet from the museum."

The Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Christine Brown, felt that they should support the museum as they had "been very helpful" to the town council in preparing for the Charter celebrations.

Deputy Mayor, Clr. Miss Lis James, felt that the museum were asking for financial aid "from the wrong pot."

"We have a budget set aside for the Charter celebrations," she commented "They could ask for money from the Charter Fund because the exhibition is for the Charter."

Clr. Mrs.Maureen Ward proposed that the money be granted to the museum from the council's Charter Fund.
