Villagers from Saundersfoot have been busy over the last week hosting a number of events and activities for Pink Week, all in aid of raising money for Cancer Research UK Cymru. Since last Thursday, members of the community, led by breast cancer patient Patricia Field and a group of friends, have been out and about fund-raising in their droves, with sponsored events, including a quiz, raffle, Irish dancing displays, all culminating with live music and a disco on Tuesday night in the Sands nightclub. Sunday's sponsored walk from the White Horse Inn, Kilgetty, to Saundersfoot, received a magnificent response from locals for Pink Week, with 41 walkers, mostly in fancy dress, turning out for the trek. "The response and support shown by the local community in aid of the Pink Week has been immense, and we're delighted that people have really joined in with the fun in raising money for the cause," said Patricia. "One of the walkers alone, Derek 'Bambi' Edwards, has raised over £1,300 in memory of his daughter, Trudy, who sadly lost her fight against breast cancer recently," she added. All the proceeds from Saundersfoot's Pink Week will go to Cancer Research UK Cymru, and Patricia is hoping to hold a special presentation once all the money raised is totalled.
