FOLLOWING his early festive charity dips, local fund-raiser Freddy Brown has raised £375 for a new prostate cancer laser machine for Withybush Hospital, Haverfordwest. Sixty-nine-year-old Freddy, who has never missed a Boxing Day Swim in Tenby nor the New Year's Day Swims at Saundersfoot and Amroth, still managed to take the plunge, along with his dog Shep, at all three locations before the events took place, as he knew he would be away on holiday over the Christmas period. Freddy, of Pembroke Dock, would like to thank everyone who sponsored him, with special thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Titterton, Mr. G. Evans, of Narberth, Milford Haven Port Authority, Imperial Garages, together with all family and friends. Freddy was due to present his cheque to the hospital on Wednesday. "I was disappointed to have missed the actual events, but I managed to group together a crowd of Welsh people who were staying at the same hotel in Tenerife, and we all ran into the sea on New Year's Day to mark the occasion," he added. Freddy is, however, continuing with his efforts to fund the prostate scanner and is looking for a new fund-raising project. He is asking any business to set him a challenge providing they pay, as Freddy says, "big bucks" for him to do it! He is open to any suggestions, as long as it does not involve walking or running. Freddy can be contacted on 01646 682732.
