On Friday, N. D. Toy and Partners, Insurance Consultants and Independent Financial Advisers, held their annual golf day. Following the success of the first golf day held last year to celebrate the firm's 30th year in business, it has been decided to make this an annual event.

In total, 49 players enjoyed an 18-hole stableford competition around the beautifully prepared links in Tenby.

The wind made scoring rather difficult, even so the overall winner, Colwyn Harts, scored an excellent 34 points playing off an 18 handicap. With 17 points on each nine, this was a steady round of golf.

Colwyn received a cut glass decanter and a voucher for four to play the impressive Wentwood Hills course at Celtic Manor.

The second and third prizes were split into two categories. In the +1 to 15 section, Billy Lewis won a round for four at the Vale of Glamorgan with a creditable 33 points playing off 13, and the third prize of a Nike polo shirt went to Simon Rossiter, playing off six, who scored 32 points.

The second prize in the category 16-28 was won by Rob Brown, who will enjoy a round for four at St. Pierre Golf Club for his 30 points. Rob beat Jason Taylor, who also scored 30 points, courtesy of a better back nine. Jason won a Nike polo shirt.

There were a number of other prizes, with Simon Welch winning bottles of wine for the best endeavour. Dai Cope won a bottle of champagne for the nearest to the pin on the sixth, with Paul Heywood, hitting a full three-wood to within a couple of inches of the pin on 17, also taking home a bottle of champagne.

Paul Haley, the lowest handicap player in the competition playing off +1, was virtually unchallenged for the longest drive on the 14th, richly deserving his prize of a fine bottle of Scotch whisky.

Following the prize-giving, a raffle of various prizes, including a TV/video, mini hi-fi system and a luxury hamper, raised the sum of £300 to go to the Tenby Lifeboat, who are celebrating their 150th anniversary this year.

N. D. Toy and Partners would like to thank the captain and committee of Tenby Golf Club for allowing them the use of the course and facilities, with special thanks going to Roger, Ria and the catering staff for the superb meal and service during the evening.
