The first Celvac Charity Golf Day in support of Water Aid took place on Trefloyne Parklands Course, Penally.

Celvac Environmental Solutions provide specialist industrial cleaning and mechanical engineering services to the UK water industry from a new purpose-built facility at the Salterns, Tenby.

Teams from as far a field as Wessex Water and Severn Trent Labourites joined the local teams from Kelda Water Services (Wales), Dwr Cymru/Welsh Water and United Utilities, Morrison Construction plc, Meica Process, Laing Utilities, Thames and Chevron Texaco, who entered two teams, as well as individual players travelling from London, Birmingham and North Wales, on a glorious sunny day, to compete in the team and individual competitions.

The team event was won by the Dwr Cymru Welsh Water, led by Mr. Ryan Bowen, while the individual competition was won by Mr. Ian Williams, of Kelda Water Services (Wales), based in Cardiff.

The longest drive went, as usual, to Mr. Dean James, of Kelda Water Services (Wales), Swansea Bay, with the closest the pin honours going to Mr. Paul Stoneham, of Wessex Water.

The hole-in-one competition caused a fair amount of excitement with the prize for the elusive shot being a Vauxhall Astra SRI (valued at £15,000), kindly donated by W. P. Lewis and Son, of Milton. Although no one managed to achieve it this year, Mr. Mike Hendy, of Meica Process, came the closest, but as his ball was stolen from the green by a bird, we only have the word of the witness to confirm this.

Mr. Kim Beynon, managing director of Celvac Environmental Services, commented: "It was a fantastic day, enjoyed by all, with tremendous support, raising over £4,000 for Water Aid, a truly worthwhile cause. We look forward to our next event which will be bigger and better than ever and we should also like to give a special thanks to the staff of Trefloyne who helped make this a memorable day."

Celvac Environmental Solutions would like to thank all the competitors and the hole sponsors (listed below) for their valued support and it is hoped to see you again next year:
