IT'S official, local residents and holidaymakers in Tenby love Welsh cakes - well that's according to four members of St. Johns Church who have been making hot Welsh cakes throughout the summer.
The twice weekly event has raised the amazing sum of £3,615 for the church restoration fund which bakers, Elly Craig, Winifred Hewlings, Brenda Harris and Ruth Mardon presented to St. Johns minister, Rev. Nanette Lewis-Head, this week.
In addition, they have also raised £1,057 for various charities, including the Fire Brigade Benevolent Fund, Children in Need, the Noah's Ark Appeal, Christian Aid and the church's own Daffodil Festival Fund and the children's Pilots Club.
Although the sale of Welsh cakes has now finished for the winter, the griddles will be back in action at the Daffodil Festival being staged to coincide with St. David's Day on March 1.
Elly, Winifred, Brenda and Ruth would like to thank all the members of St. Johns who have supported them during the year with donations of dough and offers of help, as well as everyone who has purchased Welsh cakes and helped them raise such a superb sum of money.
