A CRYMYCH sportswoman recently helped the Welsh women's international rugby team to a two-test win over the South African women's team.

Catrin, daughter of Eirian and Hillary Edwards, has represented Wales on a number of occasions at forward.

It was in the second test that she scored an important try in the first-half to give them the lead at half-time.

It was a hard second-half, but the Welsh women kept their heads and battled away to get them the final result to complete a two-nil test series win.

Catrin, who now teaches PE in a Cardiff school, was a very keen hockey player, but since turning to rugby she has gone from strength to strength gaining many honours.

She comes from a true rugby family, with father Eirian and an uncle having played for Narberth and Crymych; a brother who plays for Llantwit Fardre.

Eirian Edwards is also a well respected referee in Pembrokeshire and is the present referees appointments secretary.
