Carmarthenshire County Council has announced that bin collections will begin earlier than usual tomorrow (Thursday, August 13), due to the forecast of extreme heat!

To help protect the health, safety and wellbeing of frontline crews working in the extreme heat, collections will start at 5am instead of the 6am.

This also includes garden waste and hygiene/nappy waste collections. Residents are being asked to put their bins out the night before, or before 5am on their collection day.

A spokesperson for Carmarthenshire Council stated: “We would appreciate your support in helping spread the word to neighbours and local communities about this temporary change.”

Carmarthenshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Transport, Waste and Infrastructure Services, Cllr Edward Thomas, said: "The welfare of our crews is our priority, particularly during periods of very hot weather. By starting collections earlier, we can help reduce staff exposure to the hottest part of the day while continuing to provide essential services for residents."
